Discover the Incredible Power of Breathwork
Just breathe and start healing
Breathwork refers to breathing exercises that intentionally control your breathing pattern to help produce specific physiological responses. Breathwork has evolved over thousands of years and has applications in modern medicine, including helping to reverse heart disease and improve overall health.
The breathing techniques of the modern era continue to encourage spiritual awakening, self-awareness, self-healing, and the meditative state required for mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Improve Your Quality of Life with Breathwork
Breathwork therapy is beneficial for individuals suffering from a range of mental and physical illnesses, including:
- Anxiety
- Chronic pain
- Anger
- Depression
- Addiction
- Trauma and posttraumatic stress
- Grief and losses
Breathwork can also be effective for individuals looking for personal growth, inner peace, clarity, inspiration, and insights. Overall, breathwork can help reduce some of the lifestyle factors that make illnesses like heart disease possible, to begin with.
Is Breathwork Like Meditation?
Meditation can be a challenging practice for some people who have trouble letting go of mental chatter – the constant flow of thoughts that run through one’s mind. Breathwork helps people get out of their minds quickly and into their bodies. It frees the mind and helps the body do the work. Breathwork allows for an elevation of the state of awareness, facilitating healing, growing, and self-transformation.
Breathwork therapy is simple and effective. It does not require any experience in meditation or mindfulness.
Benefits of Breathwork
Breathing affects every system and function in the body. Understanding the power of intentional breathing can help reduce stress and anxiety, increase energy levels, rebalance hormones, improve sleep and digestion, heal emotional trauma, alleviate chronic pain, and improve cardiovascular health.
Breathwork to Heal
Every day, we carry an incredible amount of tension from trauma and past experiences that interfere with our health, sleep, goals, and relationships. Using our breath in an intentional and connected way allows us to go into the body and release all the emotions that no longer serve us.
Breathwork helps put the mind aside so we can reconnect with our bodies. Energy awareness creates healing. As your mind has many defense mechanisms, breathing helps release trapped energy, feel and release emotions, and return to inner peace.
Breathwork at Kardic Health
Claudia Tellier, MD, of Kardic Health, is a cardiologist specializing in functional medicine and holistic therapies. Her teaching is based on the Essence of Breath Modality developed by Annie Langlois, a 1500-hour certified yoga instructor and breathwork teacher. Our approach is a new, deep, and gentle system using the power of breathwork in combination with different techniques, such as yoga, meditation, felt senses, mindfulness, and intuitive movement.
Langlois’ techniques, skillfully combined in an integrative flow and safe environment, release the stress accumulated in the physical and mental structures of the body. This powerful process energizes our being at all levels and guides it to its full potential.
What to Expect During a Kardic Health Breathwork Session
A certified practitioner will perform breathwork sessions either live or virtually through a telehealth appointment. Each session begins with an open dialogue to set intentions, followed by an opening exercise to prepare. Breathwork sessions last between 30-40 minutes and end with a short integration and sharing period to anchor the experience.
During the session, sound baths, basic yoga poses, meditations, conscious movements, facilitator touches and various smells are added to enhance the experience as needed.
Is Breathwork Safe?
The practice of slow, deep, and regular breathing is very safe, and some might even say it is necessary for healing. You are in control of your own experience the entire time. It is not going to alter your state of consciousness but bring you to explore your body.
While breathwork can be performed through both the nose and the mouth, some medical conditions are considered contraindications for “mouth” breathwork. If you have any of the following conditions, our team will work with you to develop a proper breathing technique:
- Pregnancy,
- Epilepsy
- Cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases
- Stroke
- Uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes
- Schizophrenia
- Bipolar disease
- Major depression
- Severe anxiety disorder
- Panic disorder
- Glaucoma and Retinal detachment
